Ft Davis
by MonkeyPig (guest blogger)

This is another hike we went to a couple of weeks ago. Ft Davis is located at Jefferson County on your way to the famous McDonald Observatory (NPR's Earth & Sky). Its an old military post back when the US Army was protecting its "citizens" from the Indians. Its about 2 1/2 hour from El Paso. A very nice drive. But, bring your MP3. After about 1 hr east of El Paso, all you can pick up is a radio station that broad cast out of a general store. BORING.

There are a lot of eroded lava flows. Lots of desert flora.

I was looking at the rock formation an noticed a really good looking guy at one of the mountain. Can you make him out??

Baysee, as always, enjoys himself a lot when we go on hikes. I tell ya, that dog can really pee. Everytime we hike, he marks no less than 50 times. For the geology geeks, there are lots of various rock formations and various colors / mineralization that you can see.

  1. Wow, I didn't know there was so much volcanic activity in the inner Southwest. I can make out the guy in your photo, but he appears to have a severe under bite. I really like that desert flora picture, though. You should take off the automatic date stamp on your pictures. The metadata already has the info!

  2. What else can you criticize.

I don't see CPT Stubing constantly criticizing his guest stars.
