Oh, noes!

Well, it finally happened, folks. Dolly got a small ding on the driver's door. It wasn't me! Someone did it to her. It's not too bad, though. It's really a very small dent that you can only see if the light strikes her just right and your line of vision has to be almost parallel with the surface of the door to see it. But, still...

$4.00 Gas

Oh, ca ca, folks, the day of $4.00 gas has arrived. Granted, the gas is name brand (Chevron) and the place has a hand car wash, but still. I paid $50.00 last week (not from a $4.00 place) and that didn't even fill up my tank! (I pumped until the nozzle did the clicking thing so I stopped but, when I got into Dolly, she told me that she was only 90% full.) Not a year ago, we were paying $2.99 for premium at Arco, but now we are over $4.00? What happened?

Bonus TWoNNCotY points: Considering these prices, what vacation spot would not be recommended by MonkeyPig?

Question re: Lone Ranger

Dolly comes with Sirius, and my all time favorite channel is #118 Radio Classics. As you can see from the schedule (all times on schedule are EST), prime listening time for me are 8am-9:30am and 7:30pm-9pm, which includes the following programming:

(mornings)
The Shadow
Life of Riley
Lone Ranger
Phillip Marlowe

(evenings)
Gunsmoke
Charlie McCarthy Show <--this one is MMD
Twilight Zone

My favorite is Twilight Zone. They do a remarkable job bringing to radio the episodes that I know so well from watching TV.

One thing I never understood was why the Lone Ranger was named that. He is not alone, since he has Tonto and Dan Reid. In every episode I've listened to, Tonto is always by his side. I asked someone at the office this question, and they said that maybe the Lone Ranger started out as a one-man crime fighting gig, and he later acquired a sidekick.

However, it seems that this couldn't be true. This morning, the episode was about the origins of the Lone Ranger, but I missed the most crucial part when I ran into Starbucks to get coffee. By the time I got back, all I could deduce was that Tonto had saved the man who would become the Lone Ranger. So, when the he became the Lone Ranger, he already had Tonto. There was not a time when the Lone Ranger was all alone. So, what gives?

It's time to pay up.

Remember when I resolved during the Thanksgiving season to just eat like a pig until the start of the new year when I restart my running regimen? Well, the time has come to make good on the promise. The beginning of the year brought a lot of rains to the Northern California area, and it has began to clear up only recently. So, today, I took my new pedometer out for a little test run. I only did 2 miles, but I think I went at a pretty good clip. Plus, I checked the accuracy of my pedometer every half a mile (one way down to the end of the street is half a mile--Dolly confirmed this). My stride length is 90cm. I'm all set for tomorrow! Coach Nelson will be less upset with me now.

Hello, Dolly!

We have a new addition to the Nu family--Dolly! She is a 2008 Ford Fusion SEL. Many people (e.g., Coach Nelson, MonkeyPig, etc.) have been expressing reservations about Jolly Green Giant (my old 1995 Infiniti G20), so Mr. Nonny Nu got me Dolly. I am all set to start work tomorrow!

Dolly is a pretty girl. Here's a three-quarter view. Come closah!!* This is what she looks like from the side. Not only does Dolly have a pretty face, she also has a nice ass; definitely not a wide load. Okay, maybe she does have a little junk in the trunk.

But, Dolly isn't just beautiful on the outside. She's also beautiful on the inside. Here she is from the passenger side. Look at that stitching! I love that feature. It really ties in the black interior with the "white suede" exterior. The dash is user friendly, but I don't really need to go there much since there is an automatic climate control (which I have set to 70 degrees) and the steering wheel has the audio controls built in. The instrument panel is pretty cool, imo, and has green backlighting.

Plus, the back seat is pretty comfy. They also fold down, in case I need to haul a giant carrot. And, I love, love, love the moon roof. I think Dolly will be perfect for when I have passengers who need to check their eyeliner, or those pesky backseat drivers, or both!

(Photos of Nonny Nu made possible by my trusty assistant.)

* A la Mr. Hinkie (for South Park fans).
