Vacation - Refugee style...Where's the Maggi -- Day 1
by MonkeyPig (guest blogger)

In my rush to go to the airport, I had forgot many toiletries. But, the most important thing is the Maggi. But, its ok, just one week. I've stored up on some sort of Panda soysauce packets. The waiter was a bit annoyed when I asked, for the 3rd time, for more soysauce. But, that's a refugee style vacation.

The first day at Ft Lauderdale. I had a good run along the beach while taking to my sisters. Boy, can Thai women talk. 3 hours and 3Fish still want to talk -- its true, the tongue is the strongest muscle in the body.

After 9 miles, I had a ginormous appetite. Decided to go to Caps' crab. But, after I went on-line to see the $$$, decided to visit a "better" crab house. Rusty's Crab House. Unbeknowns (ok, I'm not a lawyer, so there will be much typos and spellos and grammos. I just know how to look "down there") to me, Rusty's Crab House cost an arm and a leg, also. After scanning through the menu and doing a cost/refugee analysis, I decided on the combo plate. I can save the mammalian meat & starch for the next meal and eat the seafood. That was a good plan. Though its was an expensive meal, I split the cost for two days. The refugee in me and I'm sure that my fellow refugees is proud of me. To offset the cost further, I had 4 refills on the ice-tea. Beat this Rachel Ray, 40$-a-day...for the Rachel Gees, its 30$-two-days. My bladder was almost rupture by the time I found a bathroom on my way home. But, it doesn't matter, I'm young and the insurance will cover this.

Wow! I thought that was a professional photo from their website or something. You took that?

I can't believe you left the house without Maggi Sauce.

I was just looking at the crab again. Yummmmm...

But, I'm surprised they had soy sauce at the crab place. Who dips crab into soy sauce??

That crab looks really good.

I thought it was a website picture, too. Very well done.

FOUR(4) refills of ice tea? Yikes. How fast did you have to run to your room?

You don't know the half of it, Man From U.N.C.L.E. Back when she was working in Wisconsin for couple months and living in a dorm room with just a freezer, she'd wait for Buy-One-Get-One-Free Day at Subway. She'd buy TEN(10) sammiches, freeze them, and eat them during the week. This ice tea thing is child's play.

To be a truly certified refugee, you must have the following qualifications:
1. Look like a refugee when wearing a $5k Vera Wang dress.
2. Have big bladder to hold 4 big cups of ice-tea.
3. Have surgical-steel stomach for those buy-one-get-one-free momments.
4. Be able to casually break off areas of moldy food without arousing your co-worker / classmate's notice.
5. Have skin so thick as to look the waiter in the face for the 4th refill or the 3rd request for more soysauce.

No I got the soysauce from another place.

The crab was eaten VietNamese style -- lemon / salt / pepper.

I took me more than 3 min. still can't tell the white thing on the plate is CRAB until I saw Nonny Nu's commented the CRAB LOOKS GOOD. What kind of rest. is that? 30.00 for that CRAB. HOLLY CRAB. ( from everybody loves Raymond) I will take the tabasco sauce from them.

I will take the tabasco sauce from them.
She's not joking.

Yes, Cac Loc is not kidding when she says that. She will not only take the tobacco sauce, but the tooth picks and the knapkins home for souvineir. She's taken entire kitchen from restaurants home after dinner. Especially if the food's not good.

monkeypig, I want to add one more qualification to your comment about refugee, that is - when you go for allucaneat, you should be able to pay for one and make it an all-you(s)-can-eat deal. Better yet to be able to take some to go for later. wah toh

Hey, I looked all over today for the Maggi Sauce. I found Jim Bob's BBQ Sauce, Mississippi Sauce, East Indian Sauce but no Maggi Sauce. Do you think they import it to the middle of middle America?

Dude, we have to get you some Maggi sauce. I just bought a family sized bottle this weekend. $8.04 at Safeway!!
