TWoNN Hall Meeting: Get Ready for Thanksgiving!

Hi, folks,

Seeing as how we are all going to be celebrating Turkey Day separately, I was thinking of putting up photos from everyone's celebrations so that we could kinda celebrate "together." So, if you would like to join in on the fun, please email to nonnynu@gmail.com photos of 1) your Thanksgiving Dinner, and/or 2) (if appropriate) the atmosphere/decorations of your celebration. There will be a vote afterward for "Best Turkey (or Other Thanksgiving Meat)" and also for "Best Setting in a Supporting Role." (Special thanks to Freelance Midget for coming up with the idea for the voting! Unfortunately, she gets nothing for it.) Please note, if Willy Wonka participates, only 1/3 of the votes for his Turkey (or Other Thanksgiving Meat) will be counted.

The winner(s) will either get 2 extra entries counted (if they are already guestblogging) or will get honorary MAYO status on the Contributors list (if they are not already guestblogging).

All photo entries must be received by Nov. 23 midnight PST (that's the midnight that marks the END of Nov. 23--sorry, this "midnight" business has always been confusing to me). Polls open Nov. 24 noon PST (noons are much clearer, imho).

Remember, *NO FACES OR OTHER IDENTIFYING MARKS IN THE PHOTOS* and *NO NUDITY, STILLMAN*.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hmmm...I may try this out! I'm not sure who is cooking this year (it won't be me, because people want to enjoy thier food on Thanksgiving) so I'm going to have to bring out my artistic side through decorations and photo work!

No photos of my face is good. Last thing I need on the internet is a picture of me with a mouthful of turkey.

Au contraire, PurpleNiobe. I think the world will be a better place with that in existence.

Just fyi, I was thinking about this, and, you know, sometimes, pictures are worth a thousand words, and sometimes they're not. So, if you feel that your picture doesn't capture the entirety or complexity of your Thanksgiving enjoyment, please feel free to provide captions. I will faithfully post them.

I'm not having a "Family" Thanksgiving Dinner. Obviously my biological family size is limited, but I have an extended family with the people our organization reaches. My organization hosts volunteers who come to our office to pick up prepared Thanksgiving food to take out to 600 homebound residents and share the holiday with them. I'm coordinating all the volunteers and the deliveries.

This week we had over 1,000 lbs of fresh fruits and vegetables donated from vendors at a local produce terminal which I then hauled around in a little pick up truck. Also, we just had fifty 15 lbs turkeys donated to us and I spent today delivering 33 of them to homeowners in the community who wouldn't have the economic capacity to have turkey without the donation. That truck was looking like a low-rider. Needless to say, due to HIPPA Regulations, photo opps are very limited.

I think NN's photo fest is a great idea to share the love on the holiday, and will be watching from the sidelines. If you will, for my contribution, imagine the smiling faces of my recipients of a nutritious meal that they would have otherwised missed if it were not for the generosity of hundreds of donors and hundreds of volunteers. It is truly a blessing for which I am eternally thankful. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Wow, Man from U.N.C.L.E., way to lay the guilt trip onto people so they'll vote for your entries...

I don't care, I'm still voting for myself! Hmph!
