Oh, our little one is growing up. In lieu of a birthday cake, I am giving you a photo of something you love much more:
That's right--family time with a hot pot! Yes, look at that broth:
Look at those meats:
I am drooling as we speak.
Here to fulfill all your Nonny needs!

"In lieu of a birthday cake, I am giving you a photo"
midge, instead of introducing you to my friend from chippendales, i'm giving you a snapshot of thanksgiving dinner (something you love much more). yeah, just look at that broth and those meats. i am drooling as we speak. whoa! slow it down, slow it down...you haven't even buttered your biscuit yet. here, pour a little honey on it. that's right--family time with a hot pot!

*no innuendo was used during the making of this paragraph; it is as overt nonny nu's rather odd op.
Midge, Mr. Nonny Nu made the same offer to me ("instead of introducing you to my friend from chippendales, I'm giving you a snapshot of Thanksgiving dinner") and I was very happy with it.
Mr. Nonny Nu, there are no biscuits involved when hot pots are concerned. Only, perhaps, deep fried gwais (check out the literal meaning under the photo).
"there are no biscuits involved when hot pots are concerned. Only, perhaps, deep fried gwais"
oh, it's that kind of scene. say no more. only i'm not into deep fried gwais (although i admittedly experimented with them once as an undergrad); my door just doesn't swing that way.

of course there are no biscuits. only delicious bean curd sticks.
"only delicious bean curd sticks"
just how delic...
never mind.

Happy Birthday our dear Ting Ting. I don't have a picture but I can offer a bowl of virtual reality Bun Rieu. Remember we cooked so big a pot in my house that the stove top glass was busted. That was so funny (looking back). I was really worry that you may get hurt though. I'm glad that God's angels are on our side. This will be my wish for you this year. God's blessing and proctection! WAH TOH
only delicious bean curd sticks.
Mr. Nonny Nu definitely doesn't swing that way...
"virtual reality Bun Rieu"
i'm listening!

a bowl of virtual reality Bun Rieu
Wah Toh's Bun Rieu is SDA-style, but VERY VERY GOOD. If I am not mistakened, it is made of chicken instead of the traditional crab meat.
Funny story...when I was a kid and still going to the SDA church, I was at the after-church potluck one day, and a lady asked me which of my mom's dishes did I like the best. I named a shrimp dish. I wasn't aware that SDAs are supposed to abstain from shellfish. Hehehe...
Happy B-day..Freelance Midget.
Man, I thought we're not supposed to use real names and stuff. Apparently Anonymous (not really Anonymous as the family know exactly who Anonymous is by the way she wote).
Anyway, the Bun Rui with the virtual crab is good. But, nothing beats real crab.
To MP, I use anonymous because I don't want to hassle with setting up an account.
Anyway, I have to agree that the real stuff do taste better (not necessarily good for health). Talking about seafood, I have to tell you a funny story. My friend at work, an American of course, loves seafood and is a good cook. He was telling me that he wanted to buy lobsters from 99 mkt for a party. I ask him if he knows how to clean the lobster. He said no. So I said the way Chinese clean them is to take them home, live. Then you let them crawl around so that they will secrete all the toxic from their bodies. This will make the lobsters taste better and they are therefore - detoxified. You know what his response was???? He told me that his kitchen is very small and if it would be big enough a space to let those criters crawl around in the backyard.... LOL Wah Toh
omg...wah toh knows what "LOL" means?????
Yeah, I'm as surprised at you are, Midge, that Wah Toh knows how to use "lol," thought it's possible that she thinks it means "love our Lord."
Am I bad for saying that? Because I feel bad for it.
Belated Happy Birthday, FM!
"Am I bad for saying that?"
in a word, yes. but you shouldn't dwell on it--you're bad for so many other reasons.

I must say your blog is juicy ~ I enjoy my occasional visits. I, too, am impressed that Wah Tor (note: I think it should be Wah Tor and not Wah Toh) knows LOL and used it fittingly. Well, is that a qualifer for her to step outside of the "bubble" and raise some bars?! Those photos sure make the country mice here drool over what you guys can get out there.
Our "midget" is midget no more - legally 23 and well on her way! Happy bday again and I will cook bun-rieu for you any day!
3-fish
I agree, 3-fish, it should be Wah Tor and not Wah Toh (but you have to say "Tor" with a British accent). Regarding hot pot, I haven't been able to set up a lunch or dinner date with Freelance Midget to try out her new favorite hot pot all-you-can-eat restaurant. Everytime I try, she says she has to study.
